Who am I? haha just kiddin'.
I guess my musical career started when I used to sit in my brothers room for hours and watch him play the guitar, I was an avid air guitarist on tennis racquet back then. I was also a regular attendant at his band practices. I met all the members, and one day went to one of their gigs and remember seeing this guy go nuts and everybody was cheering, It was one of those moments where you flash your self behind the kit or what ever instrument it is and think hey yeah, I would love to do that, so I went home and asked the olds if I could get lessons.
I was 15 when I started to learn the drums and didn't have a drum kit for a year while I was learning. The teacher told me to practice on my pillow but I didn't bother, I just practiced when I went to lessons every week. My parents finally helped me out with a drum kit and then I quit the lessons, their worst fear!! But little did they know what I would do every night for 2 years after that, learn on my own and bang the drums all the time. I was at a party one day when I met a guitarist who was into all the same music as I was, and we got together and jammed out Silverchair songs all day every Sunday for about 6 months, till we figured out we were going nowhere. We did have a few gigs but it was just him on guitar and me on drums and it was boring.
I ended up picking up a guitar and learning a few chords and stuff so I could write music so I could play drums to it. Gradually I got better on guitar little by little, and started to sing and I was shocking and still am. The guitarist I was playing with then suggested I sing and play the guitar, he changes to bass guitar and we get a different drummer. At first I was reluctant coz I love playing the drums but I gave in eventually and stopped playing and focussed completely on improving on guitar. My brother told me I was nuts and that I should continue with drums but I was young and knew better. Well I though I did anyway.
Anyway, we got the X guitarist turned bass guitarist's cousin to play drums for us and we were terrible. I couldn't sing and had no idea how to play the guitar. I wrote as many songs as I could so I got the idea of song structure and sound down pat, and then got better at guitar. We played about 7 gigs, and recorded a 5-song album but the drummer and I were unhappy with the bass guitarist as he never liked any of the songs I wrote, and wouldn't submit his own ideas but was only too happy to shoot me down in flames. One day it got to the end of one of our gigs, and we decided to go our own way and I have been working incognito ever since. Writing a lot of songs and going through stints of playing the drums flat out for 3 months, stopping then playing the guitar for 3 months so I could come back to both instruments each time with a different outlook and fresh ideas.
